Galatasaray to Win

Reason for tip

Galatasaray have won four of the last six meetings between these two clubs, including a 3-1 success away from home earlier this term. The runaway leaders have won 20 of their 23 league games this term and they can extend their six-point lead over Fenerbahce with another victory.

Galatasaray 2-1

Reason for tip

The visitors have scored in all but one of their away trips this season and they could be able to keep this game close following a strong run of form in the league. The hosts have won three of their four home meetings with the top six by a single goal.

Galatasaray vs Fenerbahce Predictions

  • Galatasaray won 3-1 in the reverse fixture between these two sides
  • The hosts have won 20 of their 23 Super Lig games this season
  • Fenerbahce have lost four of their previous six derby encounters with Galatasaray

Galatasaray can close in on the title

The first intercontinental derby of the season went the way of Galatasaray, who cruised to a 3-1 victory at the home of fierce rivals Fenerbahce, and their commanding win in September has proved a sign of things to come in the Turkish Super Lig.

Gala, who remain unbeaten in the league this term, have remained at the summit ever since and a win in today’s rematch would see them move nine points clear of Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce at the top.

Okan Buruk’s hosts should be feeling confident that they can do just that. Not only have they won 20 of their 23 league matches this term, but Galatasaray have also dominated this historically feisty fixture in recent times, winning four of their last six derby dates with Fener.

A 6-3 aggregate defeat to AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League playoffs will have disappointed Buruk, but the Turkish manager will likely use it as motivation to move one step closer to a third Super Lig title in a row.

Fenerbahce are themselves unbeaten in 15 matches in all competitions, so they are unlikely to go down without a fight, but the cauldron-like atmosphere at Rams Park should spur Galatasaray on to a potentially decisive success in the title race.
