Lazio can edge out hosts

Monday’s clash between Genoa and Lazio at Stadio Luigi Ferraris is unlikely to be a goal fest. Nine of Genoa’s last 11 Serie A games have stayed under 2.5 goals and the recommended bet is to go under the goals again here.

Lazio are six places above Genoa in the table and have 17 points more than their hosts. The visitors, who have won 16 and lost eight of their 32 games this season, are sixth, while Genoa sit 12th with nine wins and 11 defeats.

Genoa have enjoyed success in five of their last six home games in Serie A, but Lazio have won the last two times they have faced them in the league and were 1-0 winners over Atalanta in their most recent away game two weeks ago.

Genoa’s 0-0 draw away against Verona kept up their recent trend for matches with under 2.5 goals.

With the pre-game betting suggesting a tight contest, Genoa picked up a draw having been available at odds of 13/8. Verona had their chances but didn’t make the most of them.

Under 2.5 goals has been a winning bet in six of Genoa’s last eight Serie A home games and two of the last three times that Lazio have visited in the league have also ended with under 2.5 goals.

Lazio have won four of their last six away games in Serie A and ten of their 16 victories this season have come by a one-goal margin. Genoa’s last two defeats have also been 1-0, so Lazio to win 1-0 looks a solid correct-score bet.
