      Genoa vs Torino Predictions

      • Genoa have failed to score in six of their last eight matches.
      • Torino’s defensive record is Serie A’s joint-fourth best, with Il Toro only conceding 29 goals all season.
      • The hosts have only scored five goals in their last 17 league games.

Genoa sinking without trace thanks to lack of goals

If Alexander Blessin had been told upon his appointment as Genoa coach that he would still be unbeaten seven games into his tenure, having arrived at a club without a win in 19 league outings, he would have taken that all day long. Fast forward to mid-March, however, and a run of seven straight draws under the new man has done little to ease Genoa’s relegation fears, and their winless Serie A run stands at 26 games.

Genoa are six points from safety, so a miraculous escape cannot yet be entirely ruled out, but an incredibly poor attacking record makes it difficult to see them winning any game. Serie A’s 19th-placed side have only scored five times in their last 17 league games, have failed to score in six of their last eight matches, and have only netted twice under Blessin.

The visit of Torino shouldn’t offer the home forwards too much hope. Granted, Il Toro are on a poor run of form, having gone without a win in seven games themselves, but four of those encounters were draws, including creditable stalemates with Inter and Juventus. Meanwhile, Torino’s record of just 29 goals conceded is bettered only by Napoli, Inter, and Juventus amongst Serie A teams.

Miserly visitors look good for a clean sheet

Torino’s own lack of recent victories will, no doubt, put many punters off backing them even against dire hosts. Therefore, a good alternative angle could be to back them for a clean sheet.

Genoa are one of just four teams to average below a goal per game in Serie A, and are on a dreadful run in front of goal. Torino have only failed to score in one of their last five games, so correct score punters should back them for a one-goal victory.
