Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Portugal have scored 13 goals in their last five games and have seen at least three goals in each of those. A likely rotated lineup will be eager to impress and Georgia, who shipped three against Turkey, have allowed their opponents a massive 49 shots on goal so far in Euro 2024.

Portugal 3-1

Reason for tip

Portugal have averaged 2.6 goals per game over their last five matches and have scored exactly three in two of their last three. Georgia need a win to stand any chance of progressing and will have to go on the attack, so they could find the net against a Portugal side that have conceded nine times in their last eight.

Diogo Jota To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Diogo Jota is likely to be given a starting berth here and had a goal disallowed from the bench in the opener. He has four goals and three assists across his last 370 minutes of action for Portugal.

Georgia vs Portugal Predictions

  • Over 2.5 goals has landed in Portugal’s last five matches.
  • Georgia have allowed their opponents 49 shots on goal this tournament.
  • Diogo Jota has seven goal involvements in his last 370 minutes for Portugal.

Georgia to bow out on Wednesday

Roberto Martinez is likely to ring the changes for Portugal after they topped Euro 2024 Group F with a game to spare, but even a rotated Selecao outfit should be able to win a high-scoring encounter with Georgia in Gelsenkirchen.

Georgia have put up a brave fight in their two group games so far and would be in a good position to achieve a shock qualification if they beat Portugal, but they came undone against Turkey in their opener and were extremely fortunate not to lose against Czech Republic, so I don’t see their journey continuing after Wednesday.

That isn’t to say they won’t bow out in entertaining fashion, though. There have been ten goals scored across their last three matches and I’m expecting another goal-fest on Wednesday.

Rotated Portugal out to impress

Portugal needed a late winner to beat Czech Republic in their opening game, but they showed how clinical they can be in a 3-0 drubbing of Turkey. This secured top spot in Group F, and what is likely to be a much-changed starting XI will be eager to impress Roberto Martinez at the Arena AufSchalke.

Portugal have significant strength in depth in the attacking areas and have scored 13 goals across their last five matches, with all of those featuring at least three goals. Another over 2.5 goals bet landing is my pick, and a 3-1 correct score prediciton stands out after the Selecao scored exactly three goals in two of their last three matches.

Jota to take his chance

Diogo Jota should be in line for a start as Martinez looks to rest some other key figures and the Liverpool forward has four goals and three assists in his last 370 minutes of play for Portugal. He can punish a Georgian defence that have allowed their opponents a gigantic 49 shots on goal this tournament.
