Getafe could barely have had a worse start to the season, losing 3-0 at home to Atletico Madrid before suffering a 3-1 drubbing at Girona last week.

That means they sit bottom of the table with a -5 goal difference, and have extended a dreadful run of form to seven La Liga outings without a victory.

Quique Sánchez Flores’ side have failed to even net in four of their last five on home soil, while they have lost their last six against Villarreal.

Villarreal looking to continue strong start

It’s four wins from four at the start of the season for Villarreal, who completed a comfortable two-legged victory over Hajduk Split in the Europa Conference League play-offs on Thursday.

The Yellow Submarine have also defeated Atletico Madrid and Real Valladolid, both without conceding, results which meant they were top of La Liga after match day two.

Unai Emery’s side are merely continuing their form from the end of the 2021/22 campaign as they have lost twice in 10 league outings, picking up six wins in the process.
