Girona 2-0

Reason for tip

Girona have scored multiple goals in seven of their last eight league games at the Montilivi and can cruise to a 2-0 win against a side that has failed to register on five of their last six road trips. Cadiz have not conceded more than twice away from home since October.

Girona vs Cadiz Predictions

  • Fewer than three goals have been scored in three of Girona’s last five league matches
  • Fewer than three goals have been scored in 11 of Cadiz’s last 12 La Liga contests
  • Fewer than three goals have been scored in five of the last six head-to-head meetings

Cadiz can be a hard team to watch

Girona should be able to keep their Champions League challenge on the rails with a victory against relegation-threatened Cadiz on Saturday, although there might not be many goals in the clash.

The Andalusians will arrive at Estadi Municipal de Montilivi with a record of having featured in the fewest games with over 2.5 goals in La Liga this term – just seven of their 31 matches.

Away from home that ratio drops to 13% and no other team in Europe’s top five leagues is below 20% for road games featuring at least three goals.

Michel’s men can settle for 2-0 cruise

Mauricio Pellegrino tried to shock Barcelona last weekend by pressing hard in the early stages and it worked until Joao Felix scored a bicycle kick just before half-time. A much-changed Barca side ran out 1-0 winners in the end and this fixture may produce a similar outcome, despite Girona’s high potential for goals.

Michel’s men have scored multiple goals in seven of their last eight league games at the Montilivi, but struggled when up against some of the more dour, disciplined sides such as Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad.

The hosts should win, but given the ratio of low-scoring games Cadiz have been embroiled in, it may be better to take the greater odds on under 2.5 goals.
