Heidenheim vs Erzgebirge Aue Predictions

  • Heidenheim were beaten in only two of their 14 home games this season.
  • Erzgebirge Aue won just one of their 14 away fixtures so far this term.
  • Both teams scored in 100% of Erzgebirge Aue’s last four matches.
  • Heidenheim won six and drew three of their last nine home games.

Heidenheim firmly in the promotion hunt

Promotion hopefuls Heidenheim kept their quest for a top three finish alive with a useful draw at St. Pauli in mid-week, though they will be hunting for maximum points when they welcome poor travellers Erzgebirge Aue to the Voith-Arena on Sunday.

Both 4th placed Heidenheim and Erzgebirge Aue have been performing excellently at home this season – in fact, 7th placed Aue currently hold the division’s second strongest home record behind leaders Arminia Bielefeld.

However, Die Veilchen’s away results have been staggeringly poor in contrast to the numbers they have been putting on the board at home, and having won just once in 14 away assignments since August, Erzgebirge Aue are statistically the second worst performing team on the road this season.

Heidenheim strong at home

Heidenheim, who are extremely strong on their own territory, look favourites to capitalise on their visitor’s away day misery, and they look excellent value in the match result market for Saturday’s game.

Frank Schmidt’s charges failed to score in each of the two away games they’ve navigated since the campaign’s re-start, though they continue to shine at home. They are nine games unbeaten ahead of their latest test there, winning six and drawing the other three of that impressive string of results.

Their ability to consistently meet high-standards at the Voith-Arena suggests they should be able to beat an Erzgebirge Aue outfit that come unstuck on their travels all too often, though we shouldn’t expect Heidenheim to cut loose in the final third.

The hosts averaged just 1.6 goals per 90 minutes during their nine-match unbeaten sequence, and having watched them concede in three of their last five outings on their own patch, our correct score prediction tips Heidenheim to force a 2-1 win.
