Heracles vs AZ Alkmaar Predictions
- AZ have only lost two of their last 20 games in all competitions
- Heracles have one of the worst defensive records in the Eredivisie
- AZ have six clean sheets in their last eight domestic matches
Mature performance expected from the Cheese Farmers
AZ have been in rock solid form recently, losing just two of their last 20 games in all competitions, and they should be too strong for Heracles in this cup clash.
The hosts are battling it out at the wrong end of the table in the Eredivisie after winning just five of their 23 league games and may struggle to back up their win over Utrecht in the quarter-finals.
Erwin van de Looi’s men were beaten 4-0 by Ajax last time out and are set to follow that up with another loss.
Leaky defence could be the difference
AZ have won three on the spin in the league and recently dumped Galatasaray out of the Europa League thanks to a 6-3 aggregate success. They also knocked Ajax out of this competition in the round of 16.
Former Tottenham striker Troy Parrott has been integral to their success, with 17 goals in all competitions, and he will be licking his lips against this Heracles defence.
Only the bottom two have conceded more goals than the home side’s 43 in the league and that is in sharp contrast with the visitors, who have the second-best defensive record in the Eredivisie behind Ajax. That could well be the difference between these two teams and AZ are fancied to progress to the final with another win.
AZ have six clean sheets in their last eight domestic games and can extend that with a 2-0 victory.
