Celtic to Win and Over 3.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Celtic have already shown they are full of goals after easing past Kilmarnock last week, but they have found away clean sheets relatively difficult to come by and Hibs can contribute to a high-scoring game after the disappointment of last week’s loss at St Mirren.

Celtic 3-1

Reason for tip

The Bhoys should be confident they can punish a Hibs defence who are licking their wounds following their humbling at St Mirren, but with two clean sheets in eight away games it is worth chancing their hosts can make their mark in a 3-1 defeat.

Hibernian vs Celtic Predictions

  • Eleven of Celtic’s last 13 league away games have featured at least three goals
  • Celetic have kept a clean sheet in two of their last eight league matches
  • Hibs have scored in six of their last seven home Scottish Premiership games

Champions made the ideal start

Celtic’s open match of the Scottish Premiership season could have hardly gone better for Brendan Rodgers’s side as they cruised to a 4-0 win over Kilmarnock and benefitted from Rangers drawing with Hearts to give them an early advantage in the campaign for glory.

It should be something they are able to build on as Hibernian suffered a 3-0 defeat in their opening encounter against St Mirren and could be dreading a visit from the champions.

They did win four of their final six home matches of the season, although three of those successes came after the split when they were in the bottom half and this is plainly a much tougher task, but it may give David Gray’s team some hope that they can bounce back from that dismal opening.

Clean sheets have proved difficult to earn

We have come to expect goals in Celtic’s away matches with just two of their last 13 in the league failing to generate at least three goals and the strikeforce will undoubtedly be full of beans following that comprehensive win over Kilmarnock, who enjoyed a decent season last term.

However, they have conceded in six of their last eight away league games, which should give their Edinburgh opponents some hope, so a 3-1 away win may be of interest to those looking for a correct-score selection.
