Tight game expected in Finland

HJK Helsinki have had a good start to their domestic season, topping the Finnish top division, winning 10 of their 11 games at this point and conceding just five goals. They have scored an average of two goals a game so far this season and have looked in really good shape but this represents a much tougher challenge than they have faced domestically to this point.

Last season, Helsinki failed to qualify for the Europa League when they were defeated by Riga and this meant they didn’t have any European football at all.

Buducnost suffered a similar fate, losing to Ludogorets in the Champions League qualifying rounds before dropping into the Europa League qualification rounds. They were unable to overcome Sarajevo though and played out their season with continental competition.

The Montenegrin side won their domestic league at a canter last season, finishing 28 points above their nearest rivals, losing just five of their 36 league games and averaging just under two goals a game over the season.

This should be a really tight game with both sides being very strong domestically but not being European powerhouses. Both sides have averaged around two goals a game in their leagues but both have conceded well below a goal a game and this leads us to believe that this game will see under 2.5 goals as both sides look to keep things tight. HJK have home advantage for the first leg though and this could make all the difference. We fancy the Finnish side to pick up the win in this tie with a 1-0 victory looking the most favourable.
