Bayern Munich and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Bayern Munich have their last nine maiden encounters with top-flight newcomers and should have too much for Kiel, who were beaten 2-0 by the same Wolfsburg side that lost 3-2 at home to the Bavarians. But both teams have scored in Bayern’s last eight Bundesliga away games, so there is a chance that Kiel can snatch a goal.

Bayern Munich 5-1

Reason for tip

Bayern have tended to score plenty of goals in Bundesliga away games where they have conceded. And with Kiel showing some early attacking promise this term, Bayern look to make the scoreline more flattering if they miss out on a clean sheet. They scored five at Darmstadt in March and five at Union Berlin a month later so a 5-1 win could be on the cards.

Holstein Kiel vs Bayern Munich Predictions

  • Bayern Munich have their last nine maiden encounters with top-flight newcomers
  • Both teams have scored in Bayern’s last eight Bundesliga away games
  • On matchday two, Holstein Kiel lost 2-0 at home to the same team (Wolfsburg) that Bayern Munich beat 3-2 the week before
  • Only Bayer Leverkusen (10) have created more clear-cut chances over the first two matchdays than Kiel (seven)

Kiel won’t be sunk without a trace

Bayern Munich should get the better of Bundesliga newcomers Holstein Kiel when they return to domestic action on Saturday, although the home side may be able to make their mark in the match too.

The 2.Bundesliga runners-up last season, Kiel have not entered the top-flight to just make up the numbers. Evidence of this approach comes by way of the stat that only champions Bayer Leverkusen (10) have created more clear-cut chances over the first two matchdays than Marcel Rapp’s side (seven).

However, with only two goals to show from their opening two league contests, finding a reliable goalscorer at this level may be the biggest issue they face.

In-form Kane can maintain Kompany’s perfect start

Bayern have no such worries with Harry Kane set to return to the club in great spirits after he bagged his 67th and 68th international goals in England’s 2-0 win over Finland on Tuesday.

He will almost certainly start as Bayern boss Vincent Kompany will want to keep the winning momentum going ahead of his Champions League debut as a coach next week.

The Bavarians needed to score three goals to get the win against Wolfsburg in their last away trip and multiple goals may also be required in Kiel given their record of allowing supposedly weaker opponents to score.  Bayern’s last eight Bundesliga away trips have sen both teams register and they conceded on the road against four of the division’s bottom five clubs last season, which suggests Kiel can snatch one in a probable hefty defeat.
