Houston Dynamo vs DC United Predictions
Houston Dynamo endured a disappointing season last year as they finished 8th in the MLS Western Conference, but at the moment they look very unlikely to improve on that poor finish. They come into this match, having had a few weeks off MLS action, at the bottom of the Western Conference with just 13 points from their opening 14 games. Seattle Sounders sit three points above them in 9th, but they have a game in hand on the bottom placed club as well.
They did manage to inject a bit of confidence into the players with a 4-0 win over San Antonio in the US Open Cup on Thursday, but in general they have been very poor this season.
They have won just one of their last five matches in all competitions and only managed three wins all season in the MLS. One of these came very early on in the season, so they have only won two of their last 12 league matches, losing seven and drawing the remaining three.
DC United didn’t enjoy such a successful evening in the cup, with their 0-0 draw at home to Fort Lauderdale leading to a penalty defeat to send them out of the cup at this early stage.
This makes it three defeats, two draws, and two wins in their last seven matches, and their points tally isn’t looking too much better than their hosts’ at this point. They sit in 7th position in the less competitive MLS Eastern Conference with 16 points from their opening 14 matches.
DC United are struggling on the road as well. They did manage to get their first away win of the season just before the break in the MLS, but they have still lost two and drawn three of their six away days this season and, if you look back into last season, they have only won one of their last 13.
All three of Houston Dynamo’s wins this season have come on home turf, and when you add their US Open Cup victory to that they have won four, lost one, and drawn two of their seven matches at the BBVA Compass Stadium this season.
This, when combined with DC United’s poor away record this season, makes odds of 4/5 for a Houston Dynamo Draw No Bet look very valuable, and I’m going for that along with a 1-0 correct score prediction at 15/2.
