Houston Dynamo vs DC United Predictions
Houston Dynamo and DC United head into Sunday’s match in Texas having both picked up three wins, one draw, and suffered two defeats from their last six matches, and the pair are both flying high in their respective Conferences which should make for a top quality game of football this weekend.
Houston Dynamo were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Portland Timbers in midweek, but, after having the better chances during the ninety minutes, might feel they should have won the game. Manotas continued his scoring start to the season with the games opening goal five minutes before the break, but Portland Timbers substitute Fernandez equalised thirteen minutes from time and the points had to be shared. DC United also drew in midweek, but after being dominated in Canada by Toronto they would have been happy to escape with a point. The game ended goalless despite the best efforts of the hosts who had 72% of the overall possession, five times as many corners, and twelve shots on target compared to DC United’s two, and still they failed to break the deadlock.
The similar levels these two sides have played to so far this season, their recent results in the MLS, and their head to head record over the last few seasons, all points towards a draw this weekend with both team to score. Three of the last four encounters between these two clubs have ended in draws, and both teams have scored in four of the last five meetings between the pair. Houston Dynamo drew their last game at home to Portland Timbers, and DC United drew their last game away from home against Toronto. Both teams have scored in four of Houston Dynamo’s last six matches, and with that in mind we’re backing Sunday’s game to end in a 1-1 draw.
Manotas has scored six times in the league for Houston Dynamo this season, while teammates Elis and Rodriguez have chipped in with four goals apiece. Rooney top scores for DC United with six MLS goals, but Acosta and Arriola have each netted three league goals so far this season. We’re confident that Sunday’s game will end in a draw, and have predicted a final scoreline of 1-1. Both of these teams are playing to such a similar level this season that Sunday’s game screams draw, and with three of their last four matches against one another also ending in stalemate a draw is looking even more likely this weekend.
