Huddersfield vs Norwich Predictions
This is a pivotal game for both clubs. Huddersfield will view this and most of their remaining fixtures as ‘must win’ if they are to maintain a realistic automatic promotion challenge. Meanwhile Norwich’s play-off hopes are also left hanging by a thread and failure to win this game would surely ensure they’ll be playing Championship football again next season. Therefore, both managers have reason to be positive and target the three points and we should see a relatively open game.
Certainly it is likely to be more open than Huddersfield’s 1-0 home defeat against a defensive Burton side on Saturday. Norwich will look to be much more positive, which could just suit the Terriers who are hoping to avoid a third straight defeat. Perhaps they have buckled under the pressure of their unlikely automatic promotion push in recent games but they should have little trouble creating chances against a dodgy Norwich defence.
Huddersfield have scored at least once in 89% of their home games this term and 82% of their games overall so they rarely fail to net. However, both teams have scored in 63% of their home games and given they conceded 4 away at struggling Bristol City before the international break, there are cracks showing in their defence and Norwich will fancy they can capitalise.
The Canaries come here with just 1 win in their last 8 games though and having lost 10 of their last 14 away games. Some more comical defending contributed to their defeat at Villa Park on Saturday but they do at least have some strength in depth and several players who could be recalled here and make a difference, which is often key in midweek matches.
They’ve conceded a shocking 2 goals per game on average away from home over the course of the season, conceding in 90% of their away fixtures and those sort of problems aren’t easy to fix overnight. Both teams have scored in 70% of those away games though and with the likes of Nélson Oliveira and Steven Naismith to potentially come into the side, they should pose problems for wobbling Huddersfield. Therefore, backing Both Teams to Score at 8/11 looks a decent bet.
