Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Hull have not managed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 12 home games, with six of the last nine seeing both teams score. They have a Doncaster side who have seen both teams net in seven of their last ten outings.

Hull City 2-1

Reason for tip

Hull have conceded exactly once in eight of their last 11 at home, including a 2-1 success against Swansea. Doncaster lost 2-1 to Port Vale last time out, the fourth time in nine they have conceded exactly two.

Hull City vs Doncaster Predictions

  • Six of Hull’s last nine home games have seen both teams score
  • Both teams have netted in seven of Doncaster’s last ten fixtures
  • The Tigers have not kept a clean sheet at the MKM Stadium since August

Hull looking to avoid a banana skin

Hull have a pretty miserable record in the FA Cup, losing at the first hurdle in each of the last three seasons, so a third round tie against rivals Doncaster might have supporters sweating.

The Tigers’ home record will inspire little confidence either, given that they have won just one of their last ten outings at the MKM Stadium.

A poor defensive record is partly to blame for that, given they have not kept a clean sheet in their last 12 attempts there, with six of the last nine seeing both teams score.

Both teams have also netted in nine of their last 16 outings at all venues, a trend that may well be extended here.

Doncaster hoping for an upset

Rovers, who sit two divisions below Hull in the English pyramid, will be looking to pile on the misery, although a 2-1 defeat to Port Vale last time out has slightly deflated expectations.

That was the seventh time in ten outings that Grant McCann’s side have seen both teams score, failing to keep a single clean sheet over that period.

They have not been too bad on the road this season, losing only two of their last twelve away matches, with seven of those seeing both teams score.

I predict that both teams will in this match, selecting 2-1 to Hull as a correct score prediction.
