Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

The 3.55 average goals per game that Middlesbrough have seen away from home this season is a Championship high and they have seen both teams score in each of their last seven trips, while Hull have scored in four of their last five but have only one clean sheet in this period.

Hull City vs Middlesbrough Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in each of Middlesbrough’s last seven away games.
  • Boro have drawn their last three Championship matches.
  • Hull have drawn three of their last seven at home.

Tigers turn a corner

Hull picked up their second win in three games last time out to move out of the Championship relegation zone, but they are unlikely to pick up another three points in what could be a high-scoring affair against Middlesbrough.

The Tigers’ 2-1 win over Swansea just before Christmas was their first home victory since September, and three of the seven games in between ended with a score draw.

High-scoring draw backed in Yorkshire

Score draws have become something of a regularity for Middlesbrough in recent weeks, with three draws in a row being played out and two of them being six-goal thrillers.

Away from home, the play-off chasing Boro’s games have averaged a league-high 3.55 goals per game, and both teams have scored in each of their last seven trips. With Hull scoring in four of their last five but only keeping one clean sheet, both teams to score looks a solid pick for New Year’s Day.

Another share of the spoils looks the order of the evening, too. Boro have drawn their last three and Hull have drawn three of their last seven at home. With the visitors seeing plenty of goals on their travels but Hull only scoring more than twice in one home game this term, a 2-2 correct score prediction is a big-priced option.
