Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Fewer than three goals have been scored in Hull’s last four Championship matches and also in Plymouth’s last three league games. Five of the last six head-to-head meetings between the clubs have also failed to see a third goal scored.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Hull have drawn three of their last five at home while Argyle have drawn three of their last six away. A repeat of the 1-1 draw at Home Park in August might be on the cards here.

Hull City vs Plymouth Argyle Predictions

  • Fewer than three goals have been scored in Hull’s last four Championship matches
  • Fewer than three goals have been scored in Plymouth’s last three league games
  • Hull have drawn three of their last five at home while Argyle have drawn three of their last six away

Hull’s strikers in hibernation

Chances could be few and far between in Tuesday’s Championship relegation six-pointer between Hull and Plymouth at the MKM Stadium. Argyle begin the game in the bottom three but are close enough to the Tigers that a win would take them level on points with their 21st-placed hosts.

The recent results of the two clubs suggest neither will be particularly happy to be in Hull on a cold night in March. Ruben Selles’ side have picked up more points away from home recently while the Pilgrims’ recent revival under Miron Muslic has been built on excellent home form.

The Tigers’ last home game was a 1-1 draw with Norwich when a squirrel played a starring role in Josh Sargent’s equaliser for the Canaries. Hull’s strikers appear to have been in hibernation recently with the team registering only two goals themselves in their last five outings.

Plymouth can pick up an away point

The winner in their 1-0 surprise of Sunderland was an own goal and it is hard to envisage them getting more than one against a decent Plymouth defence that held out well for long spells against Manchester City on Saturday.

Argyle are not scoring many on their travels too, managing only five goals in their last 10 away games, so the obvious play here is to back fewer than three goals in the game.

The draw also has to be considered as a strong possibility given three of Hull’s last five at home have finished level while three of Plymouth’s last six away trips have finished all square.
