IFK Goteborg vs Brommapojkarna Predictions
This is a big game at the bottom of the division and defeat here would have dire consequences for both sides. Goteborg weren’t really expecting a relegation scrap but they will be right in the midst of one, should they slip up here. Brommapojkarna have been so bad on their travels though that it would still be a major upset were they to emerge victorious here.
Goteborg are currently just two places above the relegation play-off spot. Their overall form is poor, with just one win from their last seven but perhaps significantly that did come in their most recent home game when they beat Orebro 2-0. A 3-2 defeat at bottom club Sirius last time out though leaves them looking over their shoulder again and with Brommapojkarna one of the four teams below them in the Allsvenskan standings, they will be determined to get a better result here.
Brommapojkarna have only taken 1 point from their last 5 games and that’s a particularly miserable return when you consider who those matches were against. They actually played all of the other sides in the bottom four over that period and lost the lot, scoring just once and conceding six. A 5-1 hammering at the hands of AIK last time out also ensures confidence will be rock bottom heading into this one.
The pressure is now building on boss Luís Berkemeier Pimenta, who replaced former Villa defender Olof Mellberg at the end of last season. Brommapojkarna’s away record suggest that nothing is likely to improve here. They are the only side in the division who are yet to pick up an away point this term. They’ve conceded a huge 3.14 goals per game away from home and also have the second worst overall defensive record in the league.
All of their away games have produced over 2.5 goals in total while Goteborg matches are also generally quite entertaining. Their Allsvenskan matches in 2018 average 2.86 goals per game in total and all of their last 10 matches have seen at least two goals scored.
Up against a side as poor at the back as Brommapojkarna, there should be plenty of joy in this for their forward players. Overall backing Goteborg & Over 2.5 Goals looks like it could be the smart bet and it would see the visitors take another step in the direction of a return to the second tier.
