Inter Milan vs Napoli Predictions
- Inter Milan have won four of their six home league games and thrashed Atalanta 4-0 at San Siro earlier this season
- Napoli have lost some momentum after losing 3-0 at home to Atalanta last weekend
- Lautaro Martinez has scored five goals in his last six Serie A appearances
Inter backable to beat Napoli
Inter Milan are backable at their odds-on quote to beat title contenders Napoli in Sunday night’s top-of-the-table Serie A clash at Stadio San Siro. Simone Inzaghi’s side warmed up for the clash with a robust performance in midweek against Arsenal, although they benefitted from a few decisions along the way in that 1-0 win.
The Nerazurri’s defensive structure impressed again though, restricting Arsenal to threatening only rarely from open play and dealing with their set-pieces routines really well. Inzaghi will probably set his team up in a similar fashion against Antonio Conte’s Napoli, who came unstuck against a similar 3-5-2 system against Atalanta last weekend.
The hype about the Partonopei had been growing and growing, but some of the air was let out of that balloon in the wake of their 3-0 defeat to Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
Conte’s charges were overrun by Atalanta
Conte’s three-man midfield was overrun by Atalanta and it is easy to envisage something similar happening again in Milan unless the Napoli coach does something drastic.
Inter, who beat Atalanta 4-0 at home earlier this season, have won four of their six home league games to date and rarely let their backers down. Napoli are still a bit mercurial and certainly come into the less trustworthy category after last weekend’s let down.
Back Inzaghi’s side to win but don’t forget about Lautaro Martinez’s incredible Serie A goal record. He has scored five goals in his last six league appearances and is averaging exactly one in two since joining Inter.
