Chelsea To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

Ipswich have won just one of their last 14 league games against Chelsea and are winless in seven against the Blues, who have a great record in the final match of the year. Chelsea are unbeaten in their final league game in each of the last 12 calendar years and could end 2024 on a high.

Chelsea 3-0

Reason for tip

Ipswich have lost five of their last six league matches – four without scoring, and they could struggle to break down a Chelsea side who have lost just one of their last 13 matches in all competitions.

Christopher Nkunku To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca suggested changes to his starting line-up in a bid to freshen up his side and that could be good news for livewire forward Christopher Nkunku who has made the most of his rare opportunities when given the chance this season.

Ipswich vs Chelsea Predictions

  • Chelsea have lost one of their last 13 matches in all competitions
  • Ipswich have lost five of their last six league matches – four without scoring
  • Chelsea are averaging 2.55 goals per game in away league matches this season

Blues to bounce back

Only Southampton are keeping Ipswich Town off bottom spot in the Premier League and more misery is predicted for the Suffolk strugglers who face highflying Chelsea just days after losing 1-0 to Arsenal on Friday.

Neither side has enjoyed a fruitful festive period so far with Ipswich losing both matches either side of Christmas, while Chelsea have picked up just one point from their last two outings to fall seven points adrift of leaders Liverpool.

Ipswich’s return to the top flight is turning into a nightmare with the Tractor Boys picking up just two wins from their 18 matches and both of those away from home. The goals have dried up too and the Suffolk side are in danger of being cut adrift alongside bottom side Southampton in the relegation zone.

Chelsea have hit the skids in their past two league matches but they should get back on track against struggling Ipswich and a comfortable away win is predicted.

Tractor Boys facing a triple whammy

Ipswich failed to register a shot on target in the 1-0 loss at Arsenal on Friday and they remain the only team in the top flight not to have won on home soil this season.

In contrast, the Blues have lost just one of their last 13 matches on the road and they have won five of their last six matches away from Stamford Bridge in all competitions.

Blues boss Enzo Maresca suggested changes will be made to his side in a bid to freshen up things and Chelsea’s large squad is more than capable of negotiating the hectic period.

A comfortable away win looks likely and with Maresca’s men averaging 2.55 goals per game in away league matches this season, backing a 3-0 away looks a solid option.

Nkunku can make most of rare opportunity

Enzo Maresca is expected rotate his starting line-up for the trip to Suffolk and that could be good news for some of Chelsea’s fringe players and none more so than lively forward Christopher Nkunku.

The French forward has had to watch on as Nicolas Jackson and co have hogged most of the limelight this term, but Nkunku has rarely missed when given a rare chance to shine.

Nkunku has scored 12 times this term but seven of those have come in the Conference League where he has made most of his appearances this term.

But with Maresca looking to shake up things on Monday, Nkunku could get a rare start, but even if h does feature from off the bench he could get opportunities against tired Ipswich legs and we predict another goal for the deadly 27-year-old.
