Ipswich vs Nottingham Forest Predictions
- Nottingham Forest won the reverse fixture 1-0.
- Forest have kept clean sheets in their last three away wins.
- Ipswich have taken just two points from their last nine games.
Forest looking to stay ahead in top four fight
Nottingham Forest secured a huge 1-0 win over top four rivals Manchester City in the last batch of Premier League fixtures and can back that up by seeing off Ipswich at Portman Road on Saturday.
While the visitors look set for a European adventure next season, Ipswich seem destined for an immediate return fo the Championship.
The Tractor Boys have picked up just two points from the last 27 available and are now six points adrift of safety, with seven defeats in their last eight home games.
Forest can win without conceding
Forest are priced at around evens to win and at that price they offer enough value, particularly as a leg on an accumulator, but there is an opportunity to be a bit bolder with this game and back the visitors to win without conceding.
Nuno’s men managed to keep a clean sheet against Man City in the last round of games and prior to that they held Arsenal at bay in a goalless draw.
Sandwiched between those tough Premier League games, these sides played out a 1-1 draw in an FA Cup tie that Forest went on to win on penalties. However, Nuno rotated his team for that cup clash and with a best XI on the pitch Forest should be able to come away with three points and a clean sheet.
The Reds have seven away wins in the league this term and five of those victories have been accompanied by shut-outs, including each of their last three.
Goals may be in short supply
Forest can win fairly comfortably but they may have to settle for a one or two-goal margin of victory, and I’m leaning towards the latter.
The visitors have only managed one win by more than two goals on the road in the league all season and Ipswich have managed to keep things respectable in their last couple of games, losing 1-0 at Crystal Palace last time out and slipping to an unfortunate 3-2 loss at Manchester United before that.
Chris Wood scored from the spot when these sides met earlier in the season, a 1-0 win for Forest, and he can add to his 18 Premier League goals for the season on Saturday.
Wood has gone four games without a goal but three of those fixtures were against top six rivals and the other was as a substitute, against Ipswich in the cup, so Saturday’s trip to a struggling side looks like a decent opportunity for Forest’s penalty taker to end his mini drought.
