Ajax to Win

Reason for tip

Jagiellonia Bialystok have lost each of their last three in all competitions while Ajax, despite losing their last two, last failed to qualify for the group stages of a European tournament in 2017.

Ajax 2-0

Reason for tip

Ajax have averaged two goals across each of their two away fixtures on the continent this season and could find some joy against a Jagiellonia outfit that conceded four goals in their last home match.

Jagiellonia Bialystok vs Ajax Predictions

  • Jagiellonia have lost each of their three matches in all competitions
  • Ajax qualified for this round after a thrilling 13-12 penalty shootout win over Panathinaikos
  • This is the first ever meeting between the two sides

Dutch giants can put one foot in group stages

Ajax last failed to reach the group stages of a European tournament back in 2017 and Francesco Farioli’s men can place one foot in the Europa League when they take on Jagiellonia Bialystok in Poland on Thursday.

The four-time continental champions won each of their first four matches in all competitions this season but, after overcoming Panathinaikos in a gruelling penalty shootout, they started their Eredivisie campaign with a 2-1 defeat at NAC Breda.

Jagiellonia also started the season strongly with five consecutive victories across league and cup obligations however they were comfortably beaten by Bodo/Glimt 5-1 on aggregate to crash out of Champions League qualification and also suffered their first league defeat last time out (4-2 v Cracovia).

The jump in quality may be too steep for Jaga and the Polish outfit may be unable to make home advantage count. Ajax have won both of their two away games in Europe this season and, with an average of two goals score in each, a 2-0 away win looks a tempting prospect.
