Gent and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Northern Irish outfit Larne are having a miserable time of things in the Conference League, having lost their opening five games in Europe, and more misery is likely to follow against Gent. That said, they have scored in their two home defeats and may not a consolation.

Gent 2-1

Reason for tip

With both teams scoring in five of Larne’s last seven home outings, a 2-1 victory for the visitors may be the most tempting correct-score play.

Larne vs Gent Predictions

  • Larne have lost all five of their Conference League matches
  • Gent have won three of their opening five European fixtures
  • Gent have only two clean sheets in ten away games

Larne finding European adventure too tough

Northern Irish outfit Larne are having a miserable time of things in the Conference League, having lost their opening five games in Europe, and more misery is likely to follow against Gent.

Belgian visitors Gent, meanwhile, have won three of their opening five Conference League clashes and sit 13th in the 36-team standings, with Larne rooted to the bottom.

Gent’s two defeats came away at Chelsea and Lugano, with them winning all three home clashes against Molde, Omonia Nicosia and TSC.

So there is something to prove at Windsor Park away from their familiar surroundings, although Larne have looked woefully out of their depth and are virtually impossible to trust given they also sit ninth in the Northern Irish Premiership.

Gent’s added firepower gives them the edge

That said, the County Antrim side did notch consolations in both of their home defeats against Shamrock Rovers and St Gallen and they may be able to get on the scoresheet against Gent.

The Belgian side have kept only two clean sheets in their last ten away matches and they may struggle to shut out Larne, who have no choice but to start going for broke.

With both teams scoring in five of Larne’s last seven home outings, a 2-1 victory for the visitors may be the most tempting correct-score play.
