LASK Linz vs Manchester United Predictions
- LASK have conceded just one goal in four home Europa League matches this season.
- Manchester United are yet to score more than a single goal away from home in Europe this season.
- LASK have a 100% record at home in the UEFA competitions, winning six out of six since starting out on the continent in 2018.
Hosts hard to beat
A relatively unknown quantity to those who’re not avid followers of the Austrian game, LASK have impressed in continental competition this season. They’ve lost just one out of eight matches since entering the groups, which is impressive given that they’ve faced both Sporting and PSV twice.
There’s been little wrong with their efforts away from home, but home is certainly where the heart is as far as the Thursday’s hosts are concerned. LASK have won four out of four Europa League matches at Raiffeisen Arena this season, beating Rosenborg, PSV, Sporting and AZ Alkmaar, scoring ten goals and conceding just one in the process.
By scoring ten in four matches, scoring two or more in three of those four, LASK have certainly impressive offensively, but it is their defensive efforts that have stood out most. Three clean sheets in four games bodes well ahead of a match against a United side that has been anything but high scoring on the road in Europe this season.
United on the up
Manchester United come into this match off the back of a confidence-boosting win against their city rivals. Not only have Solskjaer’s men just beaten the reigning Premier League champions but they’ve been improving in general of late, or at least there has been a steady improvement in terms of results. They’ve won four of their last five and are now unbeaten in ten (in all competitions).
The January arrival of Bruno Fernandes has given the Red Devils and rather sizeable injection of creativity and just overall quality in midfield, so much so that United now look confident of hurting teams. That said, their rather poor scoring record on the road in this competition cannot be ignored. United have scored in three out of four away UEL matches this season, but they’ve scored more than once in none of those three. What’s more, they’ve only won one out of four away from home on the continent.
Hosts overlooked
The visitors have improved of late, but their exploits away from home in this competition leave something of a bad taste in the mouth. In contrast, LASK have been excellent at home. At the prices, ‘LASK Draw NO Bet’ is easy to support. The Austrians have made light work of beating some useful side such as Sporting and PSV at home this term, while they’ve kept things very tight at the back. In contrast, United have struggled to get going away in Europe.
‘Correct Score’ punters can try a 2-1 win for the hosts, who’ve scored multiple goals in three out of four at home. They’re also yet to concede more than once, while United haven’t scored more than a single goal on the road.
