In-form Haaland to lead Dortmund to victory

Lazio’s top four finish in Serie A last season saw them return to the Champions League group stage for the first time since 2007, and while Tuesday’s opponents Borussia Dortmund are favourites to top the group the Italians will feel they have a great chance of qualifying ahead of Zenit and Club Brugge.

However, their opener is one of the more difficult fixtures in the six-round calendar, especially with Lazio coming into the game after a poor start to the domestic season. They haven’t won since the opening weekend at Cagliari, losing to Atalanta and Sampdoria either side of a 1-1 draw with Inter Milan.

Dortmund, meanwhile, have won four of their six competitive games so far and have plenty of Champions League experience to draw on. They have won four of their last seven games in the competition and can look to the goalscoring prowess of Erling Braut Haaland.

The Norwegian youngster has already scored four goals for Dortmund this season and netted his first senior international hat-trick for Norway during the international break. Haaland scored ten goals in just eight Champions League appearances for RB Salzburg and Dortmund last season, so look to him for an anytime goalscorer option.

Haaland’s form should help Dortmund to a win on Tuesday. They face a Lazio side in poor form right now and demoralised after their 3-0 thrashing at Sampdoria on Saturday so, with two of Borussia Dortmund’s last three Champions League games ending in 2-1 victories, backing an away win and a 2-1 correct score prediction looks great value.
