Lazio vs Torino Predictions
- Lazio have struggled during the absence of striker Taty Castellanos, winning only three of 10 games without him
- Lazio have failed to win each of their last three games
- Torino have hit form, going unbeaten in their last four matches
Lazio are lost without Taty
Lazio’s bid to reach next season’s Champions League risks collapse in the next few weeks as they struggle to replace injured striker Taty Castellanos, who will again be missing when Torino visit the Olimpico on Monday evening.
Il Biancoceleste were thrashed 5-0 by Bologna before the international break and now sit outside the top-5 going into a crucial phase of fixtures. Boulaye Dia led the line for Marco Baroni last time out, but his goal output has decreased dramatically of late amid suggestions that fasting for Ramadan has affected his displays.
And Lazio are leaking far too many goals to be considered better than the other Champions League contenders near them in the table. Baroni’s side have shipped 41 goals in Serie A this season, compared to Juventus’ 28 and the 30 conceded by both Roma and Fiorentina.
Torino are tough to beat on the road
Torino should prove to be dangerous opponents for Lazio after they embarked on an impressive four-game run that featured wins over AC Milan, Monza and Empoli. There is renewed confidence in the camp and they can avoid defeat at the least if they maintain their recent standards.
Il Toro have lost only one of their last eight road games in Serie A – a record which suggests they are too big at odds-against to avoid defeat in Rome. Most of those matches were against lower-half clubs but Paolo Vanoli’s men did grab 1-1 draws at Fiorentina and Atalanta in that sequence.
A draw seems the most likely outcome on Monday night, but this one should have goals in it. Torino drew 2-2 with Parma on their last away trip while Lazio featured in a similar high-scoring home draw against Napoli recently.
