Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Both Leeds and Preston have been involved in low-scoring matches of late, and this could be another tense, cagey affair. Leeds have kept things tight at the back, especially at home, while Preston’s attacking threat has dipped.

Leeds 2-0

Reason for tip

Leeds have won 12 Championship games by a two-goal margin and are conceding just 0.55 goals per game at Elland Road. A controlled 2-0 win fits their recent pattern.

Leeds vs Preston Predictions

Whites to edge victory at Elland Road

Under 2.5 goals looks the best bet when promotion-chasing Leeds host Preston at a nervy Elland Road on Saturday. Goals have been hard to come by in both teams’ games of late and Leeds have been solid at the back this season.

Leeds are the leaders of the Championship, having won 24 of their 41 games this season. Preston, in contrast, are in 14th place with ten wins so far.

Leeds have been winners in four of the last six home meetings with Preston in the Championship and they are unbeaten in their last 17 home games. Preston, meanwhile, have sustained four defeats on their last six away days and might be outclassed.

Leeds beat Middlesbrough 1-0 on Tuesday to bring the hosts’ four-game unbeaten run to an end. It was Leeds’ fifth Championship game in seven with under 2.5 goals and they justified their price of 4/5 to win, making it 24 wins in the 37 matches in which they have been odds-on this season.

They have been impressive defensively at home this season, conceding just 11 goals in 20 Championship games – an average of 0.55 goals per game.

Five of Leeds’ last seven Championship games have had fewer than three goals and, with Preston struggling to score in recent weeks, goals could be scarce.

A 2-0 win for Leeds looks the best correct-score bet. They have been two-goal winners 12 times in the Championship this season.
