Thriller on the cards at Stade Pierre-Mauroy

Two teams targeting a final-round leap into the Champions League top eight face off in France on Wednesday, and it is shaping up to be one of the more entertaining in the bumper round of fixtures.

Lille and Feyenoord are level on points and outside the top eight on goal difference, and both know that a win could be enough to bump them into the last 16.

Both sides have been involved in their fair share of high-scoring games so far in this competition, and Feyenoord will be riding a wave of confidence after beating Bayern Munich 3-0 last week.

That was the fifth time in their last six Champions League games that they have scored three or more goals, including bagging a trio of goals away to Girona, Manchester City, and Benfica, taking their tally away from home to seven points from a possible nine.

Lille have only lost to Liverpool and Sporting in this competition though and have earned positive results against the likes of Juventus, Atletico Madrid, and Real Madrid.

However, they only have one clean sheet and have conceded two or more on three occasions, so Feyenoord over 1.5 team goals looks good value considering their attacking output. With the Dutch side scoring exactly three in each of their away games and Lille notching three times in two of their Champions League games, a repeat of Feyenoord’s 3-3 scoreline in their last away game at the Etihad looks a huge price.

Santiago Gimenez could contribute to that scoreline and is a good punt in the anytime goalscorer market. He has scored 15 goals in 17 competitive appearances for Feyenoord this season, four of which have come in the Champions League. His brace against Bayern Munich last week made it nine goals in his last seven appearances.
