Monaco to entertain again

There should be goals in this clash between Lille and Monaco at Stade Pierre-Mauroy, with over 2.5 goals looking a strong bet. There have been over 2.5 goals in 15 of Monaco’s 22 Ligue 1 games this season.

Monaco are one place above Lille in the table, with just two points separating the two sides. The visitors, who have 12 wins and six defeats this season, sit fourth, while Lille are fifth with ten wins and four losses.

Lille have won three of their last four Ligue 1 home games against Monaco and go into this match on the back of a 2-0 win over Rennes last time out. In contrast, Monaco are on a run of two straight away defeats.

The visitors demolished Nantes 7-1 last weekend, which was their tenth Ligue 1 game in 12 with over 2.5 goals, but they suffered Champions League elimination on Tuesday, losing 4-3 on aggregate after a pulsating 3-3 draw at Benfica.

Lille’s struggles at the back will be a concern for their fans, with the hosts failing to keep a clean sheet in 14 of their last 17 Ligue 1 home games. In fact, it has been five matches since Lille last kept out their opponents.

Both Lille and Monaco are in good form going forward. Four of Lille’s last five home games have had three goals or more, while there have been over 2.5 goals in eight of Monaco’s last nine away games.

Lille have scored in 16 of their last 18 league games, and have scored two or more goals in 12 of their 22 matches this season. For their part, Monaco have found the net at least three times in three of their last four Ligue 1 games.

A 3-1 win for Lille is an appealing correct-score bet as Monaco tend to be at their best on home turf. The visitors have lost their last two away games and Lille have won five times in Ligue 1 this season by a two-goal margin.
