Lillestrom poised to plough on

After a near month long break due to the Nations League, top-flight football returns in Norway, where Lillestrom are the early pace-setters and are in fact yet to lose in ten games, picking up seven wins and three draws.

Geir Bakke’s side, who have not won the Eliteserien since 1989, have a staggering home record, racking up five successive wins, scoring ten times without conceding.

Two of those victories have come against sides in the top half of the table, while they have also had a couple of successes on the road, including a 2-1 defeat of second placed Molde.

Rosenborg struggling on the road

It’s just one win from five away games for Rosenborg, who are already ten points behind Lillestrom in the fight for the 2022 title.

Kjetil Rekdal’s side picked up that victory at Valerenga in their last game before the international break, but have also suffered a heavy beating to Stromsgodset.

They too are unbeaten at home, but the record on the road remains a concern, as does the fact they have only won one of their last five against Lillestrom, who did the double over them last season.

I predict that Lillestrom will win this game, but it will be a tight fixture, with 2-1 to the hosts my correct score prediction.
