Liverpool vs Leicester City Predictions
- Liverpool scored six goals against Spurs at the weekend.
- Leicester have conceded at least four goals in four of their last seven away games.
- The Foxes concede 6.6 corners per-game.
Foxes unlikely to trouble Liverpool
Liverpool hold a four-point lead going into the Boxing Day fixtures after an impressive 6-3 win at Tottenham over the weekend, and they should be able to overcome struggling Leicester comfortably in the late kick off on Thursday.
The Foxes enjoyed a brief boost under new boss Ruud van Nistelrooy but come into this game after back-to-back heavy defeats and Saturday’s 3-0 home loss to drop rivals Wolves was a hugely disappointing result, and they could be in line for another heavy loss at Anfeld.
Finding the value
Unsurprisingly, Liverpool are massive favourites here at just 1/11 at the time of writing. The handicap markets are one option but that doesn’t look a great angle either with Liverpool -3 the standard line, so instead I’ve focused on team goals and over 3.5 Liverpool goals could be the best way to back the Reds here.
Arne Slot’s men haven’t necessarily been heavy scorers but they did hit Tottenham for six at the weekend and have scored three against Newcastle and Southampton fairly recently, and they are facing a shaky defence on Boxing Day.
Leicester have conceded at least four goals in four of their last seven away games in all competitions and have shipped a league-high 22 goals in eight away games this season in the league (an average of 2.75 goals per-game), so Liverpool could run riot at Anfield.
Outside scoring options
This is one of those games where you feel Liverpool could win by any margin and I’m opting for a 5-0 success against Leicester.
The visitors are generally good for a goal on their travels but they have drawn blanks in two of their last three trips and they were also unable to find a way through against Wolves at the King Power on Sunday, while the Reds have only been breached five times in eight games at home and they’ve managed four clean sheets in their last five at home across all competitions.
Liverpool have scored at least twice in each of their last 10 home games and they’ve faced far better defences during that run, so they could put on a five-star display against this porous Foxes backline.
Mohamed Salah is the obvious contender for an anytime goal but with Liverpool expected to grab a few it is worth looking at outside options and at a big price I’m taking a punt on Virgil van Dijk. The towering Dutchman is always a threat from set pieces and Leicester have shipped 112 corners in 17 Premier League games, only three teams have conceded more, so Van Dijk should have a few chances to get forward.
