PSG Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

PSG dominated much of the first leg and against a Liverpool side showing signs of fatigue over recent games, the visitors can at least avoid defeat in this return match, especially as last week’s loss represents their only defeat across their last 24 games.

PSG 2-1

Reason for tip

PSG have scored two or more goals in nine of their last 10 away fixtures, but a lack of clean-sheets coupled with Liverpool’s own scoring ability means the Reds can also get on the scoresheet. That brings a 2-1 away win into play after 90 minutes, which would mean extra time and perhaps penalties to decide the tie.

Ousmane Dembele To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

One of Europe’s in-form players, Ousmane Dembele has scored 20 goals for PSG since the turn of the year, including two from the bench against Rennes on Saturday. Having had eight shots without scoring during the first leg, the France international will be desperate to make his mark at Anfield.

Liverpool vs PSG Predictions

  • Liverpool won last week’s first leg 1-0 but PSG dominated for large spells
  • The Parisians have scored two or more goals in nine of their last 10 away fixtures
  • Ousmane Dembele has scored 20 goals since the turn of the year

Fatigued Reds looking vulnerable

Liverpool will take a slender 1-0 lead into the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie with PSG at Anfield after Harvey Elliott’s late goal handed them a rather fortuitous victory in Paris last midweek.

Arne Slot’s side had been on the backfoot for much of the game at the Parc des Princes and had goalkeeper Alisson to thank for still being in the contest before substitute Elliott slotted home late on, but there were certainly signs of fatigue from the Premier League leaders.

That was also true during Saturday’s 3-1 come-from-behind success over struggling Southampton, a result that boosted the Reds’ hopes of Premier League glory, but underlined that the push for both domestic and European honours may be taking its toll.

PSG eye repeat performance but not result

PSG will feel that if they can match their performance levels from the first leg then they will be able to turn the tie around and they will come into the game off the back of a 4-1 success over Rennes in Ligue 1.

Unlike Liverpool boss Slot, who went with a near full strength starting line up against Southampton, PSG head coach Luis Enrique opted to rest several of his key players, although forward Ousmane Dembele did come off the bench to net twice late on.

The Parisians have won 11 of their last 12 matches across all competitions – the exception being last week’s first leg – which is also their only defeat in 24 games, a run that dates back to November.

Dembele can deliver for visitors

To say PSG forward Dembele is in form would be something of an understatement, with the France international having netted 20 goals since the turn of the year, including his brace against Rennes.

Dembele had eight shots during last week’s first leg and he could have had a couple of goals at least on another day, something he will be keen to put right at Anfield.

Against a Liverpool side showing signs of fatigue and whom they dominated for much of the first leg, PSG are capable of edging things on Merseyside and that could perhaps result in the match going to extra time.

PSG have scored two or more goals in nine of their last 10 away fixtures, but their only clean-sheet in their last five games, home or away, was against fourth tier Stade Briochin in the Coupe de France.

Liverpool have scored in 19 consecutive home games and that trend can certainly continue on Tuesday, but PSG can avoid defeat on the night at the very least.
