Strasbourg can seal their survival

Strasbourg and Lorient approach the final week of the Ligue 1 season at risk of dropping into the relegation playoff spot, but the hosts can guarantee their survival with victory.

Both sides are only point clear of the drop and with third-bottom Nantes, who are on a four-game winning run, hosting Montpellier, they simply cannot take any chances.

Strasbourg were 2-0 winners at Nice on Sunday and they have also claimed positive results against Lille, Monaco and Marseille since the end of February.

Thierry Laurey’s side have suffered four straight defeats at home but those fixtures were against the likes of PSG, Lens and Montpellier – three top-eight outfits – and they scored on each occasion.

Strasbourg, who have a goal difference nine healthier than Lorient, should find this test far easier.

The visitors boast the joint-worst away form in the French top-flight with just nine points collected from their 18 games.

Their winless run on the road is currently at 15 and with 38 goals conceded, Strasbourg should get plenty of chances to make the net bulge.
