Luton vs Middlesbrough Predictions
- The main prediction won in all five of Boro’s league games against top-three sides.
- Middlesbrough have scored ten times across the last three rounds.
- Luton haven’t failed to score in any of their last five home games.
Destination: play-offs
Luton had to scrape a 1-1 draw against a ten-man Reading last time out to remain above Middlesbrough in the standings by just a point. Even so, it looks like both sides will be in the play-offs come the end of the season and this game will serve to jostle for positions with their respective automatic promotion hopes all but dead in the water ahead of the weekend.
Returning home should provide a boost to Luton after winning six of their last eight home league games, including each of their last five in succession. The Hatters haven’t actually lost at home against Boro since 1974, yet they will face a very stern test of their promotion credentials this time around with Boro hitting a league-high 82 goals prior to the weekend’s action.
Ten of those goals came across Boro’s last three league games as a 3-1 comeback win over Hull in midweek saw them all but confirm their play-off berth. Finishing above Luton is still a worthy carrot for Carrick’s men though, as that would ensure a home second-leg in the semi-final and a clash against the 6th-placed side.
Going for goals
Middlesbrough’s recent games have simply been a dream for the neutral. The main prediction of BTTS & over 2.5 goals has landed in each of their last five league games and in all five of their games against sides above them, so we’re backing it with three-star confidence!
With attacking talents such as Luton’s Carlton Morris and Boro’s Chuba Akpom and Cameron Archer amongst others, we can see nothing but goals galore in this fixture between two of the best sides the Championship has to offer. However, we’re finishing our predictions for this clash with a small stakes play on a 3-1 win for Carrick’s Boro.
