Luton to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Luton are unbeaten in six matches, coming off the back of a sensational 4-0 win over Brighton and a strong performance in a 4-4 draw away at Newcastle, and should be too strong for Sheffield United who are winless in their last seven Premier League matches. The Hatters’ last four matches as well as the Blades’ last five have seen the ball hit the net at least three times and plenty of goals should be expected.

Luton 2-1

Reason for tip

Whilst Luton should be too strong for Sheffield United, the Blades could still land a blow. Both teams have scored in four of the Hatters’ last five games and the Blades have netted six times in their last four so clearly boast the attacking talent to trouble a defence that shipped four last weekend.

Elijah Adebayo To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Luton have enjoyed an upturn in goalscoring form of late, in no small part thanks to Elijah Adebayo who is finally finding his feet in the Premier League. Adebayo has netted four times in his last two games and, after netting a hat-trick against Brighton, will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing a side who have shipped 13 goals in their last four matches.

Luton vs Sheffield United Predictions

  • Luton are unbeaten in six matches and have avoided defeat in their last four home games against the Blades
  • Sheffield United’s last five matches have seen the ball hit the net three or more times, with an average of five goals per game being scored in that run
  • Luton have netted four goals in each of their last two games, whilst both teams to score has been a winning bet in four of their last five matches

Luton set to be too sharp for Blades

Luton were tipped by almost everybody for an immediate return to the Championship due to their small squad, shoestring budget and old school stadium, but they are beginning to prove their doubters wrong and have put together a very impressive run in recent weeks.

The Hatters are now on a six-match unbeaten streak and that run has included a hard-fought victory over Everton at Goodison Park, a 4-0 thrashing of Europa League side Brighton and a 4-4 draw with Newcastle, with the latter coming at St James’ Park – a ground French giants PSG were beaten 4-1 at earlier in the season.

Rob Edwards is really beginning to get a tune out of his side and their adaptation to the Premier League has been extremely promising, with their impressive run set to continue on Saturday as they take on basement boys Sheffield United.

Struggling Sheffield set for more misery

The Blades’ fortunes are yet to improve under Chris Wilder, with the reappointment of their former boss failing to go to plan as of yet.

Wilder has lost seven of his 11 games since returning to the helm at Sheffield United and they only seem to be getting worse, having lost their last three matches by an aggregate score of 13-4.

The Blades were utterly dreadful in their 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Aston Villa last weekend and, given their only win in ten matches came against League Two outfit Gillingham, they may be in for another difficult afternoon against the in-form Hatters.

Goals galore at Kenilworth Road

Luton will be feeling confident ahead of this tie and not just because of their good run of form, as they won the reverse fixture at Bramall Lane 3-2 and are unbeaten in their last four clashes with Sheffield United at Kenilworth Road.

The goals have been flowing fluidly for the Hatters recently too, with Edwards’ men netting four times in each of their last two games despite playing strong outfits in Brighton and Newcastle, and they should take the spoils in another high-scoring affair on Saturday.

Sheffield United’s last five matches have all gone over 2.5 goals, with the ball hitting the net five times on average in those games, whilst the same is true for Luton’s last four.

The Blades have conceded 15 goals in their last four matches and the Hatters should outscore them, but do not rule out the visitors adding to the total on Saturday as they netted six times in those fixtures and have looked more dangerous in front of goal since the arrival of Ben Brereton Diaz.

Luton’s fine form should continue as they land the points in an exciting encounter.
