Mali to Win and Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Mali have won eight of their last 10 meetings with Burkina Faso and are unbeaten in this year’s AFCON, although their three games at the tournament have yielded just four goals and this could be another low-scoring affair.

Mali 1-0

Reason for tip

Mali have dominated recent meetings between these two sides, winning eight of the previous 10 and, with two of those victories coming via a 1-0 scoreline, they could repeat that outcome in what may prove a cagey knockout tie.

Mali vs Burkina Faso Predictions

  • Mali have won eight of the last 10 meetings between the two sides
  • Only four goals have been scored in Mali’s matches at this year’s AFCON
  • Burkina Faso failed to score against Angola last time out

Mali going under the radar

With so many shocks during the group stage of this year’s AFCON, Mali’s serenely-efficient progress has gone seemingly under the radar, as they topped Group E with a win and two draws.

That has extended the Eagles unbeaten run to 10 matches, although only four goals were scored in their three group games, three for and one against.

With Burkina Faso, who finished second in Group D, drawing a blank in their last group game, as well as knockout matches at major tournaments having a tendency to be cagey, this could end in a low-scoring Mali win.

Eagles boast impressive record against opponents

Mali have an impressive recent record when facing Burkina Faso, winning eight of the last 10 meetings between the two sides, losing just one of those games.

That sole Burkina Faso victory came in a friendly over seven years ago, but before that you have to go back to January 1999 for the Stallions last win over Mali.

Two of Mali’s eight wins in this fixture since then have been by a 1-0 scoreline, including their most recent head-to-head in the African Nations Championship in 2021. A repeat outcome could therefore be on the cards on Tuesday.
