Manchester City vs Borussia Monchengladbach Predictions
- Man City have kept six straight clean sheets in the Champions League
- The Citizens have won 23 of their last 24 games
- Gladbach have lost their last six matches
Man City rebound after derby loss
Manchester City are overwhelming favourites to progress in the Champions League after their 2-0 first leg win over Borussia Monchengladbach, and it speaks volumes that the scoreline didn’t truly reflect City’s dominance in that match.
Their incredible winning streak came to an end a couple of weeks after that result, but comprehensive wins over Fulham and Southampton show that their confidence hasn’t been damaged by that derby defeat.
Gladbach face herculean task
For Borussia Monchengladbach, this is looking like an impossible task. The German side are winless in their last eight games and, after their 3-1 defeat at Augsburg at the weekend, have lost each of their last six.
Their record against The Citizens leaves a lot to be desired as well. They have won none of their five meetings, losing and conceding two or more goals in four of those.
More City dominance expected
A similar level of dominance is expected on Tuesday. The Citizens have kept a clean sheet in six successive Champions League games and they couldn’t be meeting Gladbach at a better time.
City can boast 23 wins from their last 24 matches in all competitions. This is a real mismatch in terms of form, while the Premier League leaders look too strong for a Gladbach side who have lost their last three in this competition.
We’re backing Man City to claim another win to nil after their strong of clean sheets. City’s defensive record has been great in 2021, claiming 12 victories to nil. On top of that, a 2-0 success for the Citizens is our correct score prediction.
