Manchester City vs Leicester City Predictions

  • Leicester have scored four goals in their last 14 Premier League games
  • The Citizens have won nine of the last ten meetings between these two
  • The hosts have won 21 of their last 22 Premier League games against newly promoted opposition
  • Omar Marmoush has four league goals in seven starts

Foxes still struggling

Manchester City became the first team ever to reach the FA Cup semi-finals seven seasons in a row when coming from a goal behind to beat Bournemouth on Sunday.

They have a much easier task as they return to Premier League action to host strugglers Leicester, who seem destined for the drop after losing 13 of their last 14 league games under Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The goals have dried up for the Foxes in an alarming way, they have scored just four times in those 14 matches, with two of them coming in a 2-1 win over Tottenham in January.

While Wolves are only nine points clear of Leicester and Ipswich, it is hard to see how van Nistelrooy’s men could bridge that gap considering the downward spiral that they have been on for some time.

Citizens on the up

They face a tough task against a Manchester City side who have been boosted by their weekend victory over Bournemouth. The Citizens will be aiming for an FA Cup win and a top-four finish to end what has been an extremely disappointing campaign for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Nico O’Reilly produced two assists from the bench in that game and the 20-year-old will be looking to force his way into the first team for the remainder of the campaign considering the fact that he has played just 23 minutes in the Premier League this season.

The Citizens still have plenty of injury issues at the back but that shouldn’t be too much of an issue against a Foxes side who have been blanked in 11 of their last 14 league games.

Included in that run is a 2-0 win for Manchester City when these two met back in December and a similarly straightforward success looks likely for the home team.

Marmoush key

Leicester aggregate score from their last 14 league matches is 4-35 and they look set for another humbling defeat on their travels.

The Citizens have scored 29 goals in their last nine home games in all competitions and could rack up the score against their struggling opponents.

Erling Haaland is a doubt for the home team with an ankle issue but even without him, expect Guardiola’s men to rack up a comfortable win.

Take the home team to overcome a two-goal deficit on the handicap against a team who have failed to score in 12 of their 29 league games, the most of any team in the league at present.

Correct score backers should consider a 3-0 win for the hosts considering the home team’s strugglers in front of goal.

With Haaland a doubt, Omar Marmoush could lead the line and the Egyptian has four league goals already at the Etihad despite joining in January, he also netted against Bournemouth at the weekend and is fancied to score here.
