Liverpool Over 1.5 Team Goals

Reason for tip

Liverpool are the Premier League’s top scorers and have notched twice or more in 18 of their last 19 in the league, while Manchester City have conceded 12 goals across their last five in all competitions.

Mohamed Salah To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Mohamed Salah has scored more league goals than any player in Europe’s top five leagues and his goal against Aston Villa in midweek made it seven successive games in which he has scored. He has 13 goal contributions in his last 12 appearances against Manchester City.

Manchester City vs Liverpool Predictions

  • Liverpool have scored twice or more in 18 of their last 19 Premier League games.
  • Manchester City have conceded 12 goals in their last five competitive matches.
  • Mohamed Salah has scored in seven successive competitive appearances.

Citizens face prospect of trophyless season

Manchester City were dumped out of the Champions League by defending champions Real Madrid on Wednesday, and now they face another tough test when Premier League leaders Liverpool pay them a visit.

The Citizens’, whose only realistic hope of silverware now lies in the FA Cup, have lost three of their last five games in all competitions and conceded 12 goals in the process, so Arne Slot’s side will fancy their chances as slight favourites.

This represents the first time in a decade that Manchester City have been underdogs at home in the Premier League, despite the fact Liverpool have dropped points in their last two league away days.

Free-scoring Reds to punish home defence

The Reds did still score twice in those draws with Everton and Aston Villa, though, and they have more than enough firepower to bag another couple of goals at the Etihad on Sunday.

Liverpool are the top-flight’s leading scorers with 62 goals in 26 games and an impressive 18 of their last 19 league games have seen them score at least two goals, including nine of their last ten away games.

With Manchester City shipping two or more goals in both meetings with Real Madrid, a 5-1 defeat at Arsenal, and games against PSG and Brentford since the start of the year, backing Liverpool over 1.5 team goals looks a good price.

I do think Manchester City could get something from the game though. Liverpool’s last two league away games have ended 2-2 and they have played out five draws in their last ten trips, so a repeat of that 2-2 scoreline appeals.

Sensational Salah to strike again

One of the best bets of the afternoon has to be Mohamed Salah to find the net, with the Egypt international leading the goalscoring charts across Europe’s top five leagues. Salah scored and assisted against Aston Villa in midweek to make it seven successive competitive games in which he has scored, and he has an incredible 49 goal contributions in 37 outings this season.

Salah steps up in the big games, and he can add to his tally of 13 goal contributions in his last 12 appearances against Pep Guardiola’s side on Sunday.
