After a shock early exit from the Champions League and a defeat to Premier League leaders Liverpool, the FA Cup is now Manchester City’s only realistic hope of silverware this season and they should be able to cruise into the quarter-finals with a win over Plymouth on Saturday.

The Pilgrims stunned Liverpool with a fourth-round win at Home Park last month, but they have only won one of their 19 competitive away games this season and have scored a meagre seven goals in the process.

That single victory did come against Premier League opposition in this competition, but Manchester City have already seen off two lower-league clubs in the FA Cup and two of their last four games have ended in them keeping a clean sheet in victory.
