Manchester City vs Salford City Predictions
- Manchester City have won their last five FA Cup games against lower-tier opposition by an aggregate score of 23-2
- Salford have won their last six matches to nil
- The Ammies are making their first ever FA Cup third-round appearance while City have lifted the trophy on seven occasions
City can cut loose against local rivals
Salford overcame Shrewsbury and Cheltenham to reach the third round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history, but they will not be too happy with their draw as they prepare to make the short yet daunting trip to seven-time winners Manchester City.
It could be argued that now is as good a time as any to face the Premier League champions, given the Citizens have won just three of their last 15 matches, but there is a gulf in quality between these sides which cannot be ignored.
Pep Guardiola’s men come into this clash following a morale-boosting 4-1 rout of West Ham and they will be looking to continue that return to winning ways by dispatching Salford with ease.
Salford set to play their part at the Etihad
Under Guardiola, the Citizens have made a habit out of thrashing smaller clubs on their way to deep runs in this competition, winning their last five FA Cup matches against lower-tier opposition by an aggregate score of 23-2.
They will look to cut loose again and over 4.5 goals, a bet which has landed in five games at the Etihad this term, could land alongside a home win.
Salford will look to mark the occasion of a first third-round appearance by finding the net and they have a decent chance to do so, with City managing just two clean sheets in 15 games, making the notion of backing goals even more appealing.
