Salford overcame Shrewsbury and Cheltenham to reach the third round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history, but they will not be too happy with their draw as they prepare to make the short yet daunting trip to seven-time winners Manchester City. 

It could be argued that now is as good a time as any to face the Premier League champions, given the Citizens have won just three of their last 15 matches, but there is a gulf in quality between these sides which cannot be ignored. 

Pep Guardiola’s men come into this clash following a morale-boosting 4-1 rout of West Ham and they will be looking to continue that return to winning ways by dispatching Salford with ease.
