      Manchester United vs Everton Predictions

Manchester United’s season may have been well below par by their high standards, but they still remain in the hunt for a top four position after a huge drop in form by their arch rivals Manchester City.

The Old Trafford outfit come into this match in 6th place in the table, level on points with West Ham and just one behind Manchester City in 4th. A win on Sunday could send them up to 4th, whereas a loss would give Southampton a chance of leapfrogging them.

Manchester United, whether they make it into the top four or not, will still class this season as a relative failure. There has been uproar among the fans about the lifeless style of football the team are playing and that shows in the fact that they’ve only managed to score 38 goals in their 30 matches so far, although their 27 goals conceded is the best in the Premier League.

Much of the first half of Everton’s season was made up of them relinquishing leads and failing to defend properly, but that seems to have changed recently. They have managed to keep a clean sheet in five of their last nine matches in all competitions, but three Premier League defeats during this period means they are still down in 12th position in the table.

Their last match saw them put in an unusually flat performance at Goodison Park against Arsenal, with the 2-0 defeat against a sharp looking Gunners side somewhat flattering the hosts after one of their worst performances of the season.

Manchester United’s defensive approach combined with Everton’s recent spell of form means that we could see a much more defensive match than usual on Sunday. Only one team have scored in six of Manchester United’s last nine Premier League matches, while Everton have seen one team keep a clean sheet in seven of their last nine outings.

This makes odds of 19/20 for Both Teams Not to Score look very attractive, and I’m going for a 1-0 win for Manchester United at 13/2 due to Everton’s terrible showing last time out against Arsenal.
