Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Manchester United will be without plenty of defenders for this clash and, after their showing against Chelsea on Sunday, it is hard to have much faith in their depleted backline keeping a clean sheet. Both teams have scored in six of PAOK’s last seven games and the same bet could land again.

Manchester United 2-1

Reason for tip

Although, while United leave plenty to be desired at the back, they still possess a dangerous frontline and could earn their first Europa League win of the campaign on Thursday. Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee, Amad Diallo and Marcus Rashford all have a point to prove and that could see the Red Devils, just about, get over the line.

Manchester United vs PAOK Thessaloniki Predictions

  • Manchester United have drawn all three of their Europa League games this season
  • Both teams have scored in six of PAOK’s last seven away matches
  • The same bet has landed in each of United’s last five outings

Van Nistelrooy not guaranteed to enjoy European endeavour

You would hope that Ruben Amorim already knew the mammoth task ahead of him at Manchester United – one look at the record of his predecessor’s would tell you that – but, after Sunday’s display against Chelsea, any illusions he may have had must be a thing of the past now.

A 1-1 draw with the top-four chasing Blues is a decent result on paper but the reality is they scraped that point and there were so many poor performances in the side to suggest that, after a couple of windows, the Red Devils’ squad could soon be unrecognisable as a clear out is desperately needed.

The Portuguese is remaining with Sporting until November 11, meaning he will be watching Ruud van Nistelrooy lead his soon-to-be side again on Thursday, with an improvement on Sunday’s showing far from guaranteed.

PAOK primed to net in Manchester

The Red Devils are taking on PAOK in the Europa League but given that United have drawn all three of their games in the competition this term, confidence in the Old Trafford stands is hardly going to be sky-high.

The Greek side are without a win in the Europa League too, losing two and drawing the other of their three games, but even the underperforming visitors could have enough to trouble a United defence which is without a clean sheet in five matches.

Injuries and a lack of squad depth mean a shaky Red Devils backline could be stretched on Thursday and it may be worth backing both teams to score to land for the seventh time in eight PAOK away games.
