Manchester United vs RB Leipzig Predictions
- Manchester United have won only one of their last six competitive home games.
- RB Leipzig are unbeaten on the road since February, a run of 11 matches in all competitions.
- Both teams have scored in six of Manchester United’s last seven home matches.
Red Devils let down by poor home form
Manchester United stunned the group favourites last week with a well deserved 2-1 win at Champions League finalists PSG, but good form at Old Trafford continues to elude them this season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men played out a low-key goalless draw at home to Chelsea on Saturday to pick up their first home point of the season, but their poor showings at home extend further back than the beginning of the 2020/21 campaign.
They have won just one of their last six competitive home games, and that was a 2-1 triumph over a LASK Linz side who were already 5-0 down on aggregate.
RB Leipzig enjoy excellent start to season
Visiting RB Leipzig – who made it to the Champions League semi finals last season – opened their European campaign with a convincing 2-0 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir, and they followed that with yet another win at the weekend.
The German side’s unbeaten start to the season now stretches to seven games, and their only blemish in an otherwise perfect record is their 1-1 draw at Bayer Leverkusen last month.
Visitors set to continue unbeaten start
Despite this, Manchester United come into this game as favourites to take all three points. Their performance at PSG was undoubtedly impressive, but their home record over the last few months is dismal and they’re facing a Leipzig side in excellent shape.
The visitors haven’t lost any of their last 11 competitive away games and have picked up results at Bayern Munich, Spurs and Bayer Leverkusen in this time. Backing RB Leipzig win or draw double chance looks a great value choice here.
The Red Devils did show improvement at home against Chelsea, and with RB Leipzig drawing away to Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen this season we think a stalemate could be on the cards. Both teams have scored in six of Manchester United’s last seven at home, so a 1-1 correct score prediction is our preferred option.
