Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Man Utd have drawn three of their last four matches, two of which finished 2-2 after 90 minutes. They rarely keep clean sheets at home and could be vulnerable to a Wolves side that has clicked in attack, scoring exactly two goals in four of their last seven matches. A 2-2 draw could be on the cards if United play with as much spirit as they showed on Thursday.

Jorgen Larsen To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Jorgen Strand Larsen has scored five goals in Wolves’ last four games. He has scored 12 Premier League goals this season and should be a threat in the air and on the ground against a United defence that has been leaking goals.

Old Gold could shine at Theatre of Dreams

Wolves will bid to win a fifth Premier League match in a row to complete a rare double over Manchester United when they head to Old Trafford on Sunday. Vitor Pereira’s men are in confident mood after victories against Southampton, West Ham, Ipswich and Tottenham.

And the Old Gold could shine again against United, who are performing to a level no better than any of their last four victims as they endure their worst campaign in Premier League history. The flaws of Ruben Amorim’s squad have been laid bare by their domestic and European opponents of late, although United deserve some credit for never throwing the towel in against Lyon in midweek.

Thurday’s stunning 5-4 comeback against the Ligue 1 side keeps their dream of salvaging some glory from a wretched campaign alive, but Amorim still hasn’t got to grips with the Premier League.

Pereira puts his fellow Portuguese in the shade

United have won six, drawn five and lost 10 of 21 league games since he took charge in November — not long before Pereira pitched up at Molineux. The former Al-Shabab boss has won eight of his 16 league games and taken 26 points to move Wolves out of the relegation zone to the brink of mathematical safety.

Victory at Old Trafford coupled with an Ipswich defeat against Arsenal would confirm their spot in the top flight next term, so there could be a tangible reward on offer for them on Sunday.

Meanwhile, United have nothing to play for but pride. Well, what little pride the players have left after an abject campaign in which only a couple of them have emerged with any credit.

United not managing in-game situations

The Red Devils’ contrasting fortunes in domestic and European football suggest Amorim’s squad are ill-equipped to deal with the intensity of the Premier League and most of the blame for that lies with his predecessor Erik ten Hag. They are short of options up front after an injury to Joshua Zirkzee and the decision not to replace Marcus Rashford when he left on loan in January.

Still, they scored nine goals in their last two European home games, so others remain capable of chipping in. However, they readily concede — sometimes within minutes of scoring — and lack the maturity to manage games or finish off opponents, which almost came back to bite them on Thursday night.

Wolves may well take the spoils against a much-changed United line-up, although that is of little relevance. But the safer play would appear to be backing both teams to score and over 2.5 goals in the clash, which has landed in four of Wolves’ last five away games and seven of United’s last 10 home contests in all competitions.
