Marseille vs Brest Predictions
- Marseille have won five of their last six home league games
- Both teams have scored in 11 of Marseille’s 15 home league matches this term
- Brest have taken only one point from six games away at top-eight sides
Marseille can bolster their top-four hopes
Marseille have plenty of challengers to fend off if they are to finish runners-up behind Paris St-Germain in Ligue 1 and they can claim a vital victory at home to Brest.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side started the weekend in second but they are only four points clear of Strasbourg in seventh, which highlights the competitiveness of the division outside of the Parisians.
Marseille have lost five of their last eight league games to let the closers in, but last weekend’s 5-1 rout at Montpellier was a step back in the right direction.
It means that OM have lost only one of their last ten home league games, winning five of their last six on their own patch, and that may spell trouble for Brest.
The visitors struggled to balance domestic duties with their Champions League campaign this season and, while performances have improved, they remain seventh having won only three of their last nine league games.
Brest’s big-match credentials set to come under scrutiny
Brest were held to a 3-3 draw at second-bottom St Etienne in their last away trip and their record on the road at Ligue 1’s elite makes for concerning reading.
Brest have picked up only point from their six meetings so far against top-eight outfits and they could be second best at the Orange Velodrome.
That said, Marseille have conceded in 13 of their 15 home league games this season while both teams have scored in eight of the last ten meetings between the pair.
So a consolation goal could be in the offing for Brest, with correct-score punters advised to back a 3-1 win for Marseille. The visitors were beaten by that scoreline in their last league game at home to Lens.
