Marseille vs Brighton Predictions
- Marseille have won just two of their ten league and cup matches this season
- Eight of Brighton’s last nine matches have featured at least four goals
- Both teams have scored in 12 of Brighton’s last 13 matches
Seagulls won’t sit back
While Brighton have been a difficult team to get right this season, one thing that has been virtually guaranteed is that the Seagulls’ matches will be full of goals and it could happen against when they head to Marseille in the Europa League on Thursday.
Roberto De Zerbi’s team have been full of attacking intent, which has served them well since the Italian arrived at the Amex and they are unlikely to hold back on their trip to France.
The fact they lost their first group game 3-2 at home to AEK Athens should provide extra incentive, and Marseille can expect an evening when they have to do a lot of defending.
A 1-0 defeat at Chelsea apart, every Brighton game this season has had four goals or more and that pattern looks set to continue.
Marseille defence looking flaky
An attacking style from a visiting team is an unusual sight in the Europa League and it is possible that Marseille will not know what has hit them.
It has been a disappointing start to the campaign for OM and they are winless in five games, conceding ten goals in their last three outings.
All three of those were away from home at Ajax, where they gained a 3-3 draw, and in the league against Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco.
So their defence is a concern and that could point the way to a 3-1 Brighton win.
