Marseille can add to Montpellier’s struggles

Montpellier sit outside the drop zone in Ligue 1 by virtue of goal difference alone and they are unlikely to improve their situation by getting a result at Marseille on Sunday.

L’OM have endured a difficult season but their issues have come on the road and at home they remain unbeaten in Ligue 1, with six wins and five draws.

Montpellier have been poor travellers as well and they have lost six of their 10 trips. La Paillade did manage a 3-0 home win over Metz last time out, but they had lost three in a row prior to that win, while Marseille come into the game after a morale boosting Europa League win over Shakhtar Donetsk and can back that up with three points in the league.

Marseille have been excellent at the back at home in Ligue 1 with just six goals conceded in 11 games and Montpellier have failed to score in five of their six away losses. As such, the hosts can keep a clean sheet and a 2-0 home win appeals as L’OM have scored at least twice in six of their last eight in all competitions at the Velodrome.
