Marseille to Win

Reason for tip

Marseille, unbeaten over 90 minutes in eight matches, have won six of those fixtures, and are unbeaten at home in three in the league. Strasbourg have lost four of their last six on the road in Ligue 1.

Marseille 3-1

Reason for tip

Marseille have scored 3+ in two of their last four games, while conceding exactly once in each of the last three. Strasbourg recently lost 3-1 at Brest, one of four occasions they have conceded 3+ on the league this season.

Marseille vs Strasbourg Predictions

  • Marseille are unbeaten in six in Ligue 1, winning five
  • Strasbourg have lost four of their last six away league games
  • The hosts have come out on top in two of their last three top flight matches at home

Marseille primed for victory

Marseille were knocked out of the Coupe de France in midweek, albeit only on penalties after their clash with Lille finished 1-1.

Taking the 90 minute scoreline, that means the Phocaeans have not lost any of their last eight outings, winning on six occasions.

That run includes a 2-1 home victory over Monaco, while they also demolished Le Havre at Stade Veledrome (5-1), and as such sit in second place in the table, with a handy gap down to third.

Strasbourg’s results slight deceptive?

Opponents Strasbourg meanwhile make the trip south having squeezed past Thaon in the cup in midweek, requiring penalties after the game finished 2-2.

That means they are unbeaten in six, but it is worth noting that two of those fixtures – Wednesday included – have been against lower league teams, and a further three were when facing sides in the bottom half of Ligue 1.

Liam Rosenior’s side are clearly having their struggles on the road too, losing four of their last six in the top flight, including to struggling Saint Etienne, as well as high-flying PSG and Nice.

I predict that Marseille will win this game, with 3-1 my correct score prediction.
