Middlesbrough vs Plymouth Argyle Predictions
- Plymouth’s Championship matches have averaged three goals per game this season giving them the highest average in the division
- Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals has been a winning bet in four of Plymouth’s last six contests
- Middlesbrough have won just two of their last five matches
Basement boys Plymouth still in survival hunt
Plymouth are rooted to the foot of the Championship table with just four games to play but there is still every chance the Pilgrims could avoid relegation this season and they can play their part in an entertaining affair with Middlesbrough.
Argyle have won just nine games in the league this season but four of those triumphs have come since the start of February with Miron Muslic making an impact as manager since his arrival in January.
That said, Plymouth have won just once on their travels in the league in 2025 and beating playoff-chasing Middlesbrough could be beyond them.
Boro are just three points off the top six with a decent goal difference behind them and they will view this as a must-win game.
But with both clubs in desperate need of points, the better bet is both teams to score and over 2.5 goals.
Expect an end-to-end encounter
Middlesbrough have scored 61 goals in the Championship this term – only Leeds (82) and Norwich (63) have scored more – but they have also conceded 51 times – more than 20th-placed Hull City.
As for Plymouth, they have leaked goals all term, conceding an average of nearly twice per game, but they have started to show promise in attack too, scoring twice in four of their last six games.
Back both teams to score and over 2.5 goals, while 2-2 appeals in the correct score betting.
